How long can ads about job openings be run?

In most cases, job ads are published for at least five (5) business days. Indicate the application deadline in the ad and bear in mind that job openings can be advertised internally and externally at the same time.

How do I sign up to receive job alerts when a specific job opening is advertised?

Job ads are published all the time, so we recommend creating a job alert on employment websites. That way, you’ll be notified as soon as future job openings are published that match your search criteria. To sign up and receive notifications, select the Job Alert option, enter your search criteria, and then click Subscribe. You will receive a sign-up confirmation by e-mail, and the alert will remain valid for three months. After this time period, you will need to re-subscribe.

How do I apply for a job position?

To apply for one of the job positions, visit Anglo American’s job site and apply online. Online applications are submitted through SmartRecruiters, where you can create a Smart Profile, or by using your Indeed or LinkedIn profiles. Import your information from LinkedIn.

For certain job positions in South Africa, it is possible to apply using the USSD data service. Check the job ad for more details.

Who should I contact if I can’t log in to my profile?

If you have forgotten your login information, try resetting your password. To do this, go to the applicants portal on the intranet job website and click on Set or Reset Password. Enter the e-mail address linked to your account. SmartRecruiters will then send you instructions on how to set or reset your password.

How can I check my application status?

At the top of this website, click on Login to your account and enter your login information (which was created with the initial application). Once you have logged in, you will be able to see your applications and their current status.

Can I apply for multiple jobs?

Yes. Once you have completed your online application, you will be able to apply for multiple positions. You can also update your Smart profile whenever necessary to apply for other job positions.

At what stage of the process will I receive feedback and how can I check my application status?

We do our best to keep our candidates updated as frequently as possible. We will contact you as soon as there is any change in your application status. We will also let you know if there has been a delay. You can check the status of your applications on the SmartRecruiters candidate portal. In your Smart profile, click on the My Application tab to see the status of all of your applications. Remember that job offers are deleted from the job site once the application deadline has closed or the job position is filled. After submitting your job application, you should get an e-mail confirming that it has been received. It may take up to forty-eight (48) hours for this message to be sent.

We gather and use the information we receive directly from you through our website exclusively as established in our Privacy Policy. The personal information gathered during the online application process is kept confidential and used in strict compliance with the regulations in force. Can I delete my information from the database?

To delete a profile, log in as an existing applicant. Click on Settings in the navigation menu on the left. Select the Manage Your Account tab at the bottom of the page and click on Delete My SmartRecruiters Account. It may take a few days before your profile and all related applications are deleted.

You can also expect a sound application process that includes a variety of selection criteria and evaluation tools, as applicable. After you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed. You will receive feedback and be kept up-to-date on each stage of the hiring process as it occurs.

If my first application was not successful, will you keep my profile for future job opportunities?

Your information will be securely stored for the time established in the country’s data retention policy. After this time, it will be deleted. During the data retention period, we will contact you if any appropriate opportunities arise and ask you to apply for the positions if you are interested. We recommend setting up job alerts so that you will be automatically notified if a job position that meets your search criteria opens up.
